Black Country Museum Trip
Year 6 travelled back in time at the Black Country Museum
Year 6 recently had an exciting educational trip to the Black Country Museum, where we immersed ourselves in the daily life and challenges of Victorian times.
We delved into the stories of four different families, learning about their jobs, struggles, and what life was really like during the era. Wandering through the streets of the reconstructed Victorian town was like stepping back in time—each building and shop had its own story, and we were able to see how people lived, worked, and spent their leisure time over a century ago.
One of the highlights was our Victorian school lesson, where they learnt about the strict rules and routines students once followed. Mrs. Kapler even experienced the stern discipline of the era, getting the cane as part of the demonstration! We also had the chance to explore the dark, narrow mines where Victorian workers toiled each day in difficult conditions, gaining a better understanding of their hard and often dangerous lives. To top off the day, we enjoyed some delicious fish and chips—a traditional treat that felt like the perfect way to end our journey back in time. The trip was an unforgettable experience that really brought history to life for all of us.
